U17 Nike Player Heading to Portugal
|
 1993 Region III ODP
Rush U17 Nike player Megan Casscells-Hamby will be playing with the 93 Region III ODP team in Portugal on February 27 - March 7, 2010. All four Regional teams will be traveling and lodging together with the Women's National Team, playing against other National teams from Europe and competing in the prestigious Algarve Cup.
Currently a U17 Women's National Team pool player, Megan has been identified to the State and Regional ODP teams for the last three years, she was selected to the 2008/09 High School All State Team and she currently plays on our Florida Rush 2009 State Cup Champions U18 Nike team.

UNO Chicago Grill Partners with Florida Rush

 Dough Rai$ier Starts March 6th
Uno Chicago Grill has partnered with Florida Rush and will host a club Dough Rai$er on game days beginning March 6th through May 31st to benefit the club.
Friends and families interested in participating in the Dough Rai$er can secure a voucher on the Florida Rush website, which they can then bring to the Uno Chicago Grill located at 3167 Daniels Road in Winter Garden and 20% percent of all sales generated will be donated to the Florida Rush.Since inception, the Uno Dough Rai$er program has donated more than $2.9 million to deserving organizations over the years.

Score at the Shore Invitational - Champions

 U17B Florida Rush Nike
Our Florida Rush U17 Nike team was crowned CHAMPIONS of the "2010 Score at the Shore" invitational soccer tournament. Competing in a group of 28 teams, the U17 Nike team dominated the division winning six straight games and out scoring opponents 18 to 2 overall. "I saw a passionate and well executed performance this weekend" stated Head Coach Sean Murphy, "I'm sincerely excited about this season and thrilled that our team is all on the same page."Congratulations for an outstanding performance this weekend!

Coach Sean Murphy Runs Marathon for Haiti Relief
|
 8th Annual Miami ING 1/2 Marathon
Starting early Sunday morning before dawn, Sean Murphy and fiancee Ali Flader joined nearly 18,000 runners taking part in the 8th Annual Miami Marathon. Participating in the ING 1/2 Marathon, Sean and Ali ran 13.1 miles and raised $650 for Haiti relief on behalf of the Florida Rush U17 Nike boys.
"Ali and I both being coaches were really motivated to finish the 13 miles" states Sean, "knowing that the money we raised could save the life of children who are lacking the basic nutritional or medicinal needs that we can take for granted every day was both humbling and inspiring."

Congratulations to Ashley Lowe (top) and Megan Mcmahon (below) from our U14 Nike team for being selected to the 1996 ODP State team. Ashley and Megan will represent the state of Florida in the Region III camp in Mentevallo, AL in July.

Disney Presidents Day - Champions

 U12B Florida Rush Nike
The Florida Rush U12 Nike team coached by Wilson Rendon won the Disney President's Day Soccer Festival on Feb. 15, 2010. On Saturday, the team beat the Pinecrest Premier Panthers Molake, 3-1 in the morning and then beat the North Lakeland Rowdies 6-1 in the afternoon. On Sunday, the boys faced and beat 1-0 a formidable team from GOU INTERUSA to advance to the semifinals on Monday. The Nike team then beat the NY HOTA Bavarian SC Bulldogs with a score of 6-0. In the championship game, the team had a rematch against GOU, which they won with a score of 1-0.

Westbrooke Elementary "Wildcat Prowl"

 Partners in Education (PIE Program)
Nearly 200 students and family members of Westbrooke Elementary participated in the Wildcat Prowl fitness day. There were obstacle courses, soccer drills, scooter races, basketball chases, hula hoop contests, martial arts moves and dancing in the street. The major PIE contributors were Event Specialists, Subway, Victory Martial Arts, Southwest Aquatics and Florida Rush Soccer. Organizer, Penny Baum, said, "I feel the relationship and community building that was achieved
from this event was Priceless!"

NTC Winter Challenge - Champions

 U11G Florida Rush Nike
Playing in the U12 division, our U11 Nike team was crowned CHAMPIONS at the NTC Winter Challenge this past weekend. With three wins and the best record after group play, the Rush Girls played the next best record in the Final Match, winning 2-0. "The girls rose to the occasion, and rallying around each other, won the Championship with a strong team effort" stated Team Manager Paul Butler.
Watch for our girls in the Florida Region Cup series who have advanced to the Challenge Round, being held in Ocala the weekend of 27-28 February.
Their families, coaches, and club are very proud of them!

NTC Winter Challenge - Champions
|
 U11B Florida Rush Nike
The U11 boys team coached by Erick Garcia, had their first shot at gold during last weekend's 2010 NTC Winter Challenge. With two wins - against Hunter's Creek "Eagles" (3-2) and RVSC "Falcons" (8-1) - and tying with host team, South Lake "Wahoo's," (3-3) they advanced to the play-off final.
The final game, against the "Wahoo's," was everything that the parents and the coaches were waiting for - two well-matched teams, playing two different styles of soccer, going at each other with all they had. After 60 minutes of regulation without one single boring minute, the teams tied again, 2-2. The penalty kick shoot-out, as dramatic as the game itself, was won by the Nike boys 4-2.
