| Happy Valentines day from Kohala Divers! |
Greetings!
It's that time of year again. The whales are in love, the octopi are in love (check out Robyn newest photos below) and we are in love with the great winter diving!! Even with the continuous winter NW swells we have been having this year the visibility has stayed quite good especially up North from the dome to black point. The whale sightings have been great! You may have seen our footage of whales swimming below the boat on facebook that Robyn and Brook experienced last week. To cool!

Two Octopi
See if you can pick out the two octopi in this picture and if you can see what they are up to. This takes patience and luck to get on film and leave it to Robyn to capture it all again, this is her second time getting this on film!

Save our Tangs
A recent article in the West Hawaii Today has outraged many West Hawaii residents and visitors! The article entitled "tropical fish dump prompts outrage" published on the front page on January 29th has finally enlightened many to the ongoing problem that tropical reef fish collecting is on the west coast of Hawaii. Click on the picture of yellow tangs to read the article. Keep in mind that this is one incident of a collector dumping their catch, but this many fish are being taken from our ocean daily by each fish collector and each and every fish will come to the same demise within about 6 months at a maximum while their natural life span in the ocean can be for decades! Kohala Divers has always been an advocate for banning tropical fish collection in Hawaii completely, since there is not a sustainable way for this activity to continue. We would love to see more research put into breeding tropical fish in captivity to support the aquarium trade and leave the yellow tangs on the reefs where they belong! If you feel the same way we do stop by the shop and sign our petition to ban tropical reef collection and speak up on this issue any time you see a chance. These fish are our precious resource and they are worth protecting!
