Greetings!

We are in the last week of the year. Where did 2009 go? Sometimes I think as you get older a year becomes a smaller percentage of your life and thus goes quicker and quicker.

The Christmas holiday was a lot of fun, but very tiring at Reinwald's Bakery.  Quite a few of our E-Club members took advantage of our Yule Log special as well as coming in to pick up their "Sweet Treat Rewards Card" allowing them to receive online exclusive specials in the store at any time. Look out for more specials in the New Year.

In 2010 our bakers will be focusing on what we call "Sensible Lifestyle Breads & Desserts". Not only will we be having more varieties of whole grain breads, we will also be featuring cakes with reduced fats and sugars. All reductions will be with natural ingredients of course. We don't believe that adding a synthesized sweetener or fat will be beneficial to your body in the long run. As a matter of fact, today we made chocolate cupcakes for the American Cancer Society that include fruits and vegetables as a replacement for much of the fat and  refined sugar. And guess what? They taste good! I foresee a cupcake of the week here.

Check below for our hours this New Year's week. All of our employees are getting a short, well deserved rest.

2009 was a difficult year for many of our families in the area. Our hopes and prayers are with all of you for a more fruitful and enjoyable 2010. Follow your hopes and dreams and remember that in the absence of hope there is only despair.

Sincerely,
Rich Reinwald

Pasta with Champagne Sauce

This is a very rich and delicious recipe for New Year's Eve. It contains a lot of butter, but we feel that it is okay to indulge on special occasions. Fresh Chives are very important to this recipe. Don't be afraid to make this recipe your own. For a little something extra toss in some cooked lobster meat or cooked scallops. You can even use cooked chicken if you like!

Ingredients:

2 cups Champagne
2 Vanilla beans
1 lb butter
1 lb your favorite pasta (cooked)
1/2 cup Heavy cream
Fresh chopped chives
Salt
Fresh Ground Black Pepper

In a sauce pan begin to reduce the champagne with the vanilla bean.  Simmer until about have of the liquid remains. Over medium heat slowly add the cream. Boil this for about 2 minutes. Gradually whisk in the butter and add in your salt and pepper. Pour sauce over your pasta and toss in fresh chives.

*Make sure to remove the vanilla bean before serving.

Did you know....

The bakers at Reinwald's Bakery have worked very hard over the past year to remove Trans Fats from all of our products. We have not found a good tasting replacement for our doughnuts, so taste rules. Many, many customers have told us not to mess with their Jelly Doughnuts!

Taste and freshness are what make us who we are!
