Any man can become a father,
it takes a special person to become a Dad
Greetings!

Father's Day is less than a week away along with the official start of summer. Hopefully the weather will reflect the season and these rainy, cloudy days will be behind us. This way we can actually take advantage of some of the great golf courses that we have so close by. We have enclosed a list of some of my favorites; I hope you can get out with father (or your kids if you are the father).

We have also included a delicious recipe for pulled pork. It is a little time consuming but worth while. Make sure to stop by the bakery to get your rolls for sandwiches. The bread does make the sandwich.

Father's Day is a time to reflect on all of the things that your Dad has done for you. Appreciate him everyday, but set aside some time this weekend to spend with him. I think what every father wants the most is just some time with his kids. Recently I went to an affair celebrating 75 years of Freddie the Shoemaker being in business in Huntington. The picture below is of Alfred Sforza and me cutting the cake. I have enclosed a tribute to Freddie from his son Dr. Alfred Sforza who has written several books on Huntington and Huntington Station. Very fitting for Father's Day, Click Here to read.

Two of my boys are driving cross country this month and will not be home for the 21st. They are taking this trip for The Retail Bakers of America and will be visiting bakeries across the southern part of the country. We are trying to bring attention to the vital role retail bakeries play in local communities and how the bakeries are linked to the individual town's local history. I am excited for them to have this opportunity and with the advantages of the computer age intend to follow their progress on Twitter and Facebook. I invite all of you to do the same, Click here to find out how. We had a ribbon cutting in Los Angeles just days ago and when they arrive here in Huntington about July 10th I will let you know and we will plan some kind of welcoming ceremony. Good bet there will be some free desserts to help celebrate. Until next time, enjoy your days.
