Marjorie has joined the staff of the Media Performance Institute of Boston Casting in Boston, MA. She and two of her students from her recent regional dialect modification class were interviewed on WBUR by Adam Ragusea on 12/28/10. Listen to the interview.
Idiomatic Expressions

We came across an interesting way to categorize idioms when teaching our students. Idioms often can be described as either opaque (requiring memorization since it cannot be visualized or inferred) or transparent (relatively easy to be discerned in context). If you have other strategies that you use, please share them with us and we will publish them next month.
Idioms Quiz with Prizes!
MS Idioms borderTest your knowledge of idioms. Decide if these are TRANSPARENT or OPAQUE. Simply indiciate "T" or "O." We know these interpretations are not "set in stone," but "jump right in" and see if you can "hit a home run." Email us your answers. "Three's a charm," so the first three correct entries can purchase Medically Speaking Idioms at 50% off ($25) + Shipping and Handling. We'll share the answers next month.
