Dear Friends,
Hello, everyone! We hope that you are doing well in this difficult economic climate. It is a challenging time for most small business owners. If your business is facing some difficulties, it might be worthwhile pursuing some networking allies. For example, many community colleges are looking for "experts" to help teach some workforce development courses which may include accent modification, ESL and other related subjects. Contact colleges in your area to see if your expertise is being sought. Hopefully, with some creativity and a positive attitude, we will all emerge stronger and more successful as 2009 approaches. |
RULES: Tip of the Month
Linking Words Together
Linking connects most words in a sentence except when there is punctuation such as a comma or period or when there are two distinct thought groups. Linking is most notable when the same sound is found at the end of one word and the beginning of the next (e.g. team-member or dress-size); when a vowel and consonant are adjacent (e.g. explain-it or oh-no); or when a vowel and vowel are adjacent(e.g. hello-everyone or may-I). Although it is important to pronounce word endings, there should be a smooth transition between the words to maintain fluency.
