Cultural Art Happenings June 2012

The summer began with the May 4th street party celebration of the Art of Dr. Seuss Retrospective and Touring Sculpture Garden at the Center for Contemporary Arts (CCA). The Seussical Celebration continues with a dinner Friday, June 4th to launch the NCCIL exhibition of original illustrations from the Lorax, courtesy of the LBJ Library with special guest Lynda Johnson Robb.

Registrations from as far away as Iowa and West Virginia have come in for the CALF Festival which will kick off with the CCA's "Seuss is Loose" ArtWalk on June 14th and the unveiling of our own "Cat In the Hat" bronze sculpture in Everman Park.  Great Dr. Seuss art, dramatic Dr. Seuss presentations, hands on art activities, movies, and a huge children's play area at Frontier Texas! are some of what CALF festival attendees will experience.  If you haven't already registered go online to abilenecac.org/CALF or call us at 677-1161.  We look forward to seeing children of all ages downtown!
