Omaha Fashion Week
What if the weather doesn't cooperate? It's the question we all hated hearing and hoped to never have to answer. Now I know you've been seeing and hearing a lot about Omaha's own Fashion Week. If you gotta ask, it was last week and it was impressive to say the least. I had the honor and at times, ridiculous task of Directing the Finale Runway Show. This year put us the the ultimate test by throwing weather at us. Like the last 2 years we had the event planned to all take place outside on Jones St. in front of Nomad between 9th and 11th St. However, this year we had expanded the runway to be doubled in size. That's more than a football field in total length, for all you Husker fans. Weather did threaten and at the 11th hour we had to make a call on what to do. The day before the show that drew over 4000 people last year and was going to put over 200 models on a 300 foot runway with the help of 20 designers and 100 stylists, makeup artists and volunteers, we decided to move and redesign the entire show to take place entirely under the 10th St bridge. I know there's gotta be a great song title in there somewhere. We figured it would be better to try to redesign than move the date at last minute. We had too much and too many committed to that day. Well, we went to work and Friday morning and along with an amazing OFW team and support staff and accommodating 3rd party players got it all moved, working long into the night and all day on Saturday as well. It all came together Saturday night, albeit chilly but with as many heaters as we could find in Omaha, it was a smokin show. The T'eez crew styled some beautiful hair and all was well. Omaha came out and supported in amazing numbers. The show did go on! Pics from the show next week. Thank you to OFW founder and Exec Producer: Nick Hudson, co-founder and Event Coordinator: Rachel Richards and Operations Director: Caroline Moore and of course the brave crowd and all the staff, volunteers, models, designers, stylists and all that helped make it an incredible show. We did it!
