The best for the best
I'm so happy to be able to share a very exciting announcement.
I was involved with some of the early talk that started a drive by several area hairstylists to have the new Image Recovery Center named after Lyal McCaig. The Image Recovery Centers help cancer patients with their appearance throughout their treatment and recovery. These services are offered to patients regardless of ability to pay. Lyal McCaig owned Capitol Beauty School where I once attended. Lyal mentored me and many other hairstylists in Omaha and around the world. Capitol School, the McCaig family and many many hairstylists and friends that were touched by Lyal, raised the $250,000 of pledges to get the center named after him. This goal was reached shortly before Lyal succumbed to cancer himself, a few short years ago.
Many of these same people continue to do a lot of work to raise donations to Lyal's Center. I donated the revenue from my last fashion/hairshow to the Center three years ago but haven't produced my own show since then because of my involvement with Omaha Fashion Week (OFW). OFW has grown into an amazing monster in that time. I am the luckiest guy in town to get to direct that fashion show. I have finally found a way to bring these two important entities together.
I have the distinct honor and green light from OFW producer, Nick Hudson to get to announce that next year's OFW 2011 has chosen the Lyal McCaig Image Recovery Center as their charity beneficiary.
It's the perfect marriage. Beauty and Image can promote a lot of good feelings. OFW and LMIRC both believe in this. I think seeing these two together will promote a lot of GREAT feelings.
