Dog Day of Summer
Every year since I started a salon, we have had a Dog Wash. 91 years! ...well in dog years that is. This Sunday, Aug 1st, T'eez will be shampooing your furry friends once again. Our 13th Annual T'eez Dog Wash takes place out in front of the salon from 10-1. It's fun for the whole family and no appointment necessary. Just bring your dirty dog and we'll get 'em shampooed and brushed out while you wait. We'll have treats from our dog loving friends at Wheatfields for the dogs and you as well as music and a lot of hot and wet stylists. Um,..ya. Hey, I'll be one of them! Invariably, I get asked, "do you cut the dogs hair?" No silly lady we don't. Actually I think it might be the same lady that asks every year. We aren't dog groomers ma'am, although I do have this one client... Oh I'm just jerkin your chain, er leash. Ha, ha throw me a bone here people. Pow! Got u again, I'm on a roll...over, roll over! Please someone put a muzzle on me already, NOW THAT'S IT!..Not another word I promise. I won't speak...speak! OMG, throw a net over me I'm outa control. I gotta million folks. OK, back to the Dog Wash. We only ask for a minimum donation of $10 per pooch for the Ne Humane Society.
Sunday is a big day for another reason as well. After the Dogs have all been washed... us too, Capitol Beauty School is hosting the Grand opening of their new location on 108th and John Galt starting at 4:30. Along with this is the annual fund raiser for the Lyal McCaig Image Recovery Center. I've written about Lyal McCaig several times before. He was without exaggeration the single most influential hairstylist in contemporary Omaha. He owned Capitol Beauty School and taught and mentored perhaps most of Omaha's hairstylists today. Those he taught have gone on to carry his influence to so many others. I am among the lucky ones that learned from him directly and kept a relationship with him after I graduated. My emphasis on "hair dressing" is as much from Lyal as it is from my own father, hairstylist Ray Sena. My dad is as pleased to hear that as I believe Lyal would be. Lyal left us too soon, falling victim to cancer. This fund raiser is for the Lyal McCaig Image Recovery Center in the Midwest Cancer Center. The Center serves cancer patients by helping them look their best throughout their treatment and after at little or no cost. Service is based on need, not ability to pay. Please come out and support this worthy cause. Lots of fun for the whole family, amazing silent auction, contests and raffle prizes. I have an amazing announcement I am so psyched to get to give there! Shhh, it's a secret until then. :)

Good Boy! Thomas Sena
