Goodnight Omaha!
Please forgive my indulgence. I've always tried to keep you informed of where I'm playing music but this is more than just that.
My next gig is nothing short of the biggest show I have and may ever play in my life. I, along with my band mates in Finest Hour are playing at the Rosenblatt Stadium between the Royals game and the Grucci fireworks extravaganza on July 3rd to what is expected to be a sold out crowd of over 23,000 people. It will just be a short set but it will be only us, on stage in the biggest venue in Omaha. Yep, it even eclipses the Qwest's 17,000 concert capacity.
I'm just as amazed an anyone that this opportunity fell to us but we are ready. We are so honored to get to play this very last Rosenblatt Independence fireworks show.
For us, it's the culmination of every dive we've ever played in so many different bands that we all came from and all the thousands of hours practicing and broken strings, drumsticks, keys, reeds, valves and bloodied and blistered fingers. It's a dream come true for me. The Blatt has hosted the likes of the Beach Boys and The Police. Am I making too big a deal of this? Probably, but its my dream and I am not going to take it for granted. I am shouting this from the roof tops and I want to take it all in. Admission to the Royals game against the Iowa Cubs will get you in to the Blatt for the whole show.
This is not only our dream gig but the last one of these shows at the Rosenblatt. Come pay your respects to the Blatt, enjoy the game and the show and celebrate our Independence.
Those amazing fireworks the Gruccis throw up will be matched by what is going on in my head and heart.
