Key Dates for the Transition and Administration of the Medi-Cal Program

A schedule of cutover dates has been established to successfully transition the administration of the Medi-Cal program from HP Enterprise Services to ACS, A Xerox Company, effective October 3, 2011.

Medi-Cal Rate Reductions Past and Future

This is an important week for the Medi-Cal provider rate reductions outcome. It is expected that this Friday CMS will announce their decision on the pending State Plan Amendment ( SPA) that asks for approval of a 10% provider rate reduction, as well as beneficiary co-pays for variety of services and a soft cap of 7 physician office visits per year. The SPA has been pending for some time and the provider community, including CAMPS, has been urging CMS to not approve this change.

Next Monday the US Supreme Court will hear oral argument on the pending case wherein the California Federal Court enjoined the prior 10% provider rate reduction in 2008-09. That case will determine whether provider groups have standing to legally challenge these types of reductions. It is expected that the US Supreme Court would not issue an opinion until next spring.
