Don't forget to call or email your Congressman TODAY!

Providers are urged to contact their congressional member to ask for their support of H.R. 1041! This week, many industry stakeholders will be on the Hill as part of the AAHomecare Legislative Conference (March 16-17). They will discuss hot topics such as competitive bidding with their legislators. They will also request that their representative co-sponsor H.R. 1041. While they are on the Hill pushing for support of the bill, please take a moment this week to contact congressional member as well!

If your representative co-sponsored H.R. 3790*, remind him/her and ask that they continue supporting a repeal of competitive bidding by signing on to H.R. 1041. To view a list of those who co-sponsored H.R. 3790, click here. (NOTE: Representatives who are no longer in Congress have been noted.)

If your representative is new to Congress, ensure that he/she understands the issues by providing background information and studies on the ill effects of the program. Stress the impact of competitive bidding to rural areas (Dr. Brown study) and the flaws cited in the program (Dr. Cramton letter ).

Can't Make the AAHomecare Legislative Conference?
JOIN in With the NAIMES "Virtual" Fly-In!

If you don't plan on traveling to DC on March 16-17 for the AAHomecare Legislative Conference, you can help the cause by participating in a virtual "fly-in" on March 17.

Those attending the conference will be on the Hill on the 17th to press the case for repeal of competitive bidding, repeal of the oxygen cap, and reinstatement of the first month purchase option.  Let's add a few thousand calls and emails to the day.

Here how the virtual "fly-in" works:

  1. Click here for a list of health LAs and contact information.
  2. Draft a short email and have it ready.  You can do this now and hold it in your drafts folder.  (Put a reminder on your calendar to send it on March 17th.)  Tell your legislators the impact of the bidding program on your business.
  3. Send your email on the 17th and any attachments that are relevant.  We have posted the attachments you should use on the NAIMES website HERE.
  4. Please send three emails, one to your Representative and one to each of your Senators.
  5. Our goal is for each legislator to receive as many emails as possible on the same day that the folks going to Washington will be on the Hill.
  6. Most important ---- Let your state leaders and NAIMES know what you sent and what response you get.  We must have feedback.

You might not be able to afford the trip, but you can still add your voice to the event and make some noise in DC.

Don't wait for someone else to protect your future, do it yourself!
