Medi-Cal Payment Delay Temporarily Lifted According to a notice issued on December 17, 2010, the Department of Health Care Services (DHCS) has authorized a lifting of the one-week payment delay for the end of the calendar year 2010. The claim adjudication will proceed as follows:
- Claims adjudicated by Thursday, December 16 will now be paid on December 23, with the Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) checkwrite settled on December 27.
- Claims adjudicated by Thursday, December 23 will be paid on December 30, with the EFT settled Friday December 31.
December 23 is the year-end claims cutoff to meet the final year-end checkwrite (December 30) and EFT settlement (December 31). The State Controller's office will adjust the last calendar settlement date from January 3, 2011 to December 31, 2010. This action is being taken to ensure the State obtains the increased federal funding available through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) through the end of December 2010. The audit hold will be reinstated at the start of 2011. Claims adjudicated by January 6 will be held one week. These claims will be paid January 21, with the EFT checkwrite settled on January 24.
The lifted delay will impact providers that render services to the following programs: - Medi-Cal
- Abortion
- Healthy Families
- Child Health and Disability Prevention (CHDP)
- California Children's Services (CCS)
- Expanded Access to Primary Care (EAPC)
- Genetically Handicapped Persons Program (GHPP)
