CAMPS Board Member, Wendy Baisley of Advanced Pharmacy Solutions has been working with Mike Wofford, Pharm D, Chief, Pharmacy Policy Branch, at DHCS since last September regarding the 'Original Ink Rx' requirement on providers prior to billing the State for services rendered.  Through Wendy's efforts, Dr. Wofford researched the issues and guidelines and ultimately agreed to publish a policy change, which you can find in the November 2010 Bulletin 422 (see item #3):

This is a happy day for CAMPS members!  The State's support in this matter and agreement to make changes makes a world of difference for the referral source, physician and provider alike.  Wendy stated, "No longer will I have to listen to hospitals, doctors and clinics complain when asked for the return of the original ink Rx that they just faxed, which was previously required by all providers to be in compliance with the original ink prescription prerequisite in order to bill for provided services. I hope you will agree with me when I say that this is a wonderful milestone in our industry!"
