California HME Update
Assembly Budget Sub-Committee Rejects Medi-Cal Optionals Elimination

Yesterday the Assembly Budget Sub-Committee rejected the Governors proposed elimination of Medi-Cal optional benefits which included DME and medical supplies. The Governors' 2010-11 budget proposal included a trigger to eliminate these optional benefits if the federal government did not provide approximately $8 billion in new funds for Medi-Cal and other programs.

This action is identical to the action taken in the Senate and shows strong legislative support for the retention of these important benefits. This is an important victory but we can't be safe from future action until a budget deal is struck. Those specifics are far from clear and we remain vigilant in opposing any reductions.
