YOUR HELP IS NEEDED
TO GAIN SUPPORT FOR HR 3790 to
REPEAL COMPETITIVE BIDDING

TUESDAY MARCH 30th
10:00 A.M., PST

Because of dealing with the affects of the Health Care Bill, AMEPA has had to delay the planned teleconference to discuss getting the remainder of the Southern California delegation to co-sponsor HR 3790.

The teleconference is now planned for next Tuesday morning.

We need everyone on the call while we present where the bill stands, where we are with the Senate and what we can do to reach 218 co-sponsors in the House.

This call is a follow up to our rally and in-district meetings over a month ago. While they are on Easter break, we need to meet with our Representatives in their offices.

If you are interested, please email Info@AMEPA.US and you will be sent the teleconference codes the night before.

The Excitement and Energy of last month's needs to continue until we win this battle to save our industry.

The Teleconference to discuss following up with Congressional offices on TUESDAY March 30th at 10:00 A.M. Pacific Time.

CAMPS encourages you to participate and invite others to participate as well.

This is a critical time for our industry, the new Health Care Regulations expand Competitive Bidding to cover most of our state.

We need your help, working with your elected officials to stop it.

The following portion of this email was sent yesterday, but several of our members did not receive it so it is being resent.

DME Providers Invited to Participate in CCS Survey

Dr. Geraldine Oliva and Dr. Jennifer Rienks from the Family Health Outcomes Project at the University of California, San Francisco, are doing a Needs Assessment for the California Children's Services (CCS) Program, under the Children's Medical Services Branch.

Durable medical equipment providers are invited to offer their opinion on participating with the CCS Program to provide durable medical equipment to children with special healthcare needs and what could be improved.

Below is the link to a survey on the web that asks your opinions about the CCS Program. The survey takes about 5 to 10 minutes to complete. You will not be asked for your name and all the information you provide will remain anonymous. Participating in the survey is voluntary. Participating or not participating will have no impact on your relationship with the CCS Program.

Filling out the survey will help in setting priorities for the CCS program for the next 5 year.
If you have any questions about the survey, please call contact Drs. Oliva and Rienks at 476-5283.

Action in Senate on Governor's Proposal to Eliminate Medi-Cal Coverage of DME and Medical Supplies

This afternoon the Senate Budget Sub-Committee with jurisdiction over the Medi-Cal program rejected the Governors proposal to eliminate several optional benefits that included DME and disposable medical supplies. The Governor's 2010-11 budget proposal contained a trigger mechanism that would make several changes to Medi-Cal eligibility, Health Family program, and eliminate optional benefits if the state did not receive an additional funding from the federal government in the amount of $6.9 Billion.  This is an important first step in eliminating the prospect of this type of cut, but far from the end. CAMPS is part of a larger coalition of providers, manufacturers, and patient advocacy groups who oppose the elimination of these essential Medi-Cal benefits. We testified against this change at the hearing.

An Assembly Budget Sub-committee will have a similar hearing and consideration later this month. We also hope that the Administration will abandon this idea when they release their May revise of their budget proposal in several months. We will provide information in the next few weeks regarding a new website that will allow our members and their patients to get the latest information on the status of this proposal and how they can contact their legislator.
