Medi-Cal: Medical Supplies Crossover Claims Update CAMPS participated in a roundtable on August 25 with Medi-Cal during which it addressed the issue of medical supply Crossover Claims being inappropriately denied. As a result of that discussion, Medi-Cal has informed us that a fix has been put in place for crossover claims that were denying with RAD code 442 - Medicare meets or exceeds the maximum allowed by Medi-Cal. Details are shown below.
Effective September 1, 2009:
- The maximum number of Units, Visits, Studies, or Procedures field (UVSP) has been corrected to the default setting of 99.
- The unit of measure and the maximum pricing has been corrected to take into account the differences in unit of measure between Medi-Cal and Medicare and result in paying the crossover claim to the Maximum Allowable Product Cost (MAPC) pricing as the maximum rate.
Note: An EPC cannot be done for crossover claims. |

AAHomecare Will Have 30 Minutes on C-Span this Saturday
In response to the American Association for Homecare's concern over misrepresentations about home medical equipment, C-SPAN has offered the Association a 30-minute slot on its "Washington Journal" program. The program is scheduled to air on Saturday, September 5, at 9:30 a.m. Eastern Time. Joel Marx, who is president and CEO of Medical Service Company in Cleveland and chair of AAHomecare's HME/RT Advisory Council, will appear representing the Association. The program is typically aired both on television and on the C-SPAN radio network.
Last Friday, former Medicare administrator Bruce Vladeck made several wildly inaccurate statements about HME and oxygen. (See AAHomecare blog for details about Vladeck's comments and the Association's response.) | |
