A Tangled Mess
Cast all your burdens on him, because he cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7).

The instructor told me to be in her class I had to unwind my perfectly formed skein of yarn and roll it into a ball.  I never do that, I always use it straight from the skein and very seldom do I have a problem, but out of respect for her as the teacher I put down my needles and pulled on the yarn.  Wouldn't you know it, I got half way through the skein and I pulled out a huge glob of tangled mess. Yuk !!!

I worked on pulling out all the knots for quite some time. It reminded me of my life sometimes. There are times that tangled mess of yarn is just a small representation of the tangled mess I make of my life. Burdens pile higher and higher, the knots get tighter and tighter until I am ready to throw my hands in the air and give up.

I was ready to throw that tangled mess into the trash, give it up and go get new yarn but thank God he doesn't feel that way about me and my messed up life. "I will not cast you off, do not fear, I am with you" (Isaiah 41:9-10).

God wants to pull gently on the threads of my life and remove the knots and the tangles. But first I have to give them to him.  "Cast all your burdens on him, because he cares for you" (1 Peter 5:7).  Cast ALL your burdens, not just some or just the worst ones, cast ALL on him.
I keep a pile of tangled yarn on my bedside table to remind me to trust God and give my tangles and knots to him.

How about you? Is your life a tangled mess of yarn, unusable and tossed aside. This month talk about how God is untangling that mess. Then praise Him for never leaving you and tossing you in the discard pile.
