The Extra Mile 3.9

2009

And Spring arose on the garden fair,
Like the Spirit of Love felt everywhere;
And each flower and herb on Earth's dark breast rose from the dreams of its wintry rest.

Words Of Wisdom:

My friend, you touch the world on a much deeper level than you currently perceive. Do not concern yourself with the number of people you believe you need to lead or serve at one time to make a difference. For knowingly or not, you change the world with every interaction you have with a fellow brother or sister. Lead by example, it is truly that simple. Offer love and you will find your world more loving. Serve the person in front of you and you will find the world a more caring and hopeful place. Smile and laugh with the person you interact with and you will experience a happier and more peaceful world. Do whatever brings you joy, and the same world that you once cried in, you will now smile and dance in.

Leadership Quotes:

A leader is most successful when people barely know he exists. When his work is done, his aim fulfilled, his troops will feel they did it themselves.
Lao-tzu, philosopher

A competent leader can get efficient service from poor troops, while an incapable leader can demoralize the best of troops.
U.S. Army Gen. John J. Pershing

Jenn's Thoughts On Networking:

Linkedin.com  Super! Free!  I recently joined and have found interesting connections in relation to my industry and it really helps me stay connected with professionals I have a relationship with. Linkedin enables me to connect professionals to my contacts and vice versa.  This is a fairly new concept for myself and I love it!  I highly recommend taking a look at the site!  If you need help or would like me to send you an invite just let me know via email: jenn@expressionsbaskets.net

The site is www.linkedin.com

Chamber Of Commerce.  If your company is a Chamber Member I highly recommend exploring the Chamber PM's and events they offer.  I know what you are thinking, "I hate those things." " I don't really know anyone, It is just a social hour and there is no real networking opportunities."  I had the same mind set prior to attending a few PM's.   This is an opportunity to mingle in a relaxed social setting.  Key thing to remember here is you should not attend with the expectation that you will build your business and gain clients!  You are here to connect with people, talk and enjoy your surroundings. Always remember you are in a professional atmosphere not Friday night out with your pals. Don't drink too excess!  And you may be driving as well.

When asked "What do you do?" NOW is your chance in one brief sentence or two to WOW them.  Be prepared. Develop a 30-60 second infomercial about YOU!  Promote yourself as a professional and if a business owner this gives you an opportunity to become visible, top of mind to someone that did not know you before.

Before attending our local Chamber PM, I found someone in my circle of professionals to go with me and or meet me there.  I personally felt uncomfortable going alone, at first!  Last week when I arrived at the check in table Stacey was already looking for my name on the list.  She knew who I was! (I am kind of hard to forget)  I arrived early. I got a feel for the room, retrieved my glass of wine and waited for my associate to meet me.  Once we took our tour of the Stoney Creek Inn which I have to say is AMAZING!  So are the staff!  We found a table toward the front of the room. Then we headed straight for The Rose Garden table of food first!  Their food is always so wonderful I knew if we did not get there right away we would be out of luck. We sat and snacked and enjoyed the room.  I talked with associates I knew and I met someone I did not know! I introduced the associate I attended with to others as well.  I talked with the staff at Stoney Creek Inn about our new adventure for The Festival Of Trees this year.

Yes!  Stoney Creek Inn will be our New Venue Location for the Festival of Trees 2009!

BNI International
I personally cannot say enough about BNI! I did not know how to network effectively until I joined this networking community!  They trained me to be effective when I am in a networking situation. How to create a memorable introduction.  How to be a good referral source for others.  "Givers Gain!" And it is so very true.  We need to build relationships by helping others succeed!  By giving and helping others you will gain not only in your business but personally as well!

To understand more about the structure of BNI you can visit their website at www.bni-mn.com or you can visit us at our Visitors Day. All three Wausau Chapters will be hosting:
The Power Of Networking Educational Lunch on Tuesday, April 28th, 2009 at
The Rose Garden 11am-1pm.  If you would like to learn more about how to network from the ground up,
contact to me that you would like to attend and bring lots of business cards along to pass to others.

I will be there to welcome you and we can get to know more about each other and everyone together!
BNI has been responsible for teaching me how to Network to build awareness in the community about my business. The professional relationships I have built have brought me a
tremendous amount of business.
Most importantly I have gained very good friends!

Email me if you would like to have lunch and learn The Power Of Networking!
