Welcome to MountainTop Ranch

Greetings!

Enjoy our weekly brief on training tips, horse care and management, breeding, foaling and other related topics.

The staff at MountainTop Ranch looks forward to serving you and all your horse needs.  Feel free to contact us by E-mail, phone, and, by all means, come up and see us at the Ranch.
This week we are going to check in on Trixie, our 2 year old Appendix filly that we featured about 3 weeks ago. We made a video of her first mounting.
Since then, Tirxie has taken some nice quiet trail rides, but she seems to have gotten"stuck" in her training. It seems that Trixie has no motivation to move forward in an arena.
Luann Taylor, the trainer at Mountaintop Ranch does not like to "make" a youngster move forward by kicking, using alot of spur or a crop. Those things are tools and aids that are very useful as Trixie progresses in her training. Rght now, we want it to be her idea to move forward...we want Trixie to "want" to move forward and be relaxed and balanced and enjoy herself.
This brief video will show  Luann's method for getting Trixie in the mind set of moving forward freely.
Enjoy the video and we will check back with Trixie in a few days.
