Mountaintop Ranch is a unique training barn. Even though we do not specifically train horses for show...we are in the business of training. We love to train all breeds, all disciplines and all ages.
This week we are showing a short video of a paint weanling whose owners wanted to show a well mannered filly at the paint horse futurities. They did not want her trained as most trainers would "ready" a baby for halter class. They wanted her to have as natural of a pasture life as possible and have a daily training regimen that would consistently teach this baby to walk and trot  with handler, bathe, clip, and square up and stand quietly. We had this filly at our barn for only 6 weeks and we are really proud of her and her owner for their "showing"
Lulu ( the filly)and her owner had great fun and placed well and more than one judge commented on how well trained and mannered her filly behaved.
... So it is possible to take a weanling to show without over stressing with the right "set up" for play and training.
In this video , you will notice another filly that was not so happy with what was being asked of her...the difference between these two horses are like night and day....one is well mannered and happy and one is not.
