Today we are going to show you some tips and aids for retraining a horse that has decided that rearing is the best evasion tactic when he is put in an uncomfortable position or simply wants to get his way.  Rearing is very dangerous to both horse and rider and no one should work with a rearing horse unless you are an expert rider and have ridden a lot of horses at different performance levels.  Some very good horses with level heads can be worked out of the dangerous habit of rearing but other horses are not so level headed and are very difficult if not impossible to re teach.  If you have a horse that rears, please place him with a competent professional immediately. You do not want to get hurt and you do not want this habit to become a "go to" behavior for your horse when his circumstances become uncomfortable.  In these next 3 short video clips we will show our training techniques to quietly and consistently start this horse on a better path to being the good riding horse that he is capable of being.... instead of one that will be dangerous to himself and to his rider
