Welcome to MountainTop Ranch

Greetings!

Enjoy our weekly brief on training tips, horse care and management, breeding, foaling and other related topics.

The staff at MountainTop Ranch looks forward to serving you and all your horse needs.  Feel free to contact us by E-mail, phone, and, by all means, come up and see us at the Ranch.

This is a 3 part video that I am sending in one Mountaintop Minute.
Today we are introducing a brand new obstacle to a young 3 year old in training. She is a nicely trained youngster and needs experience in doing what is asked of her even if she has never been asked to negotiate this type of obstacle. Giving your horse a lot of different experiences is vital to their training.
I want to let everyone know that we had not practiced this horse at all. You are seeing first hand exactly what happened at the time it was happening. There is a break between the first and second video...the only thing that you are not seeing is  about 3 minutes of continuing  training that you see on the video. The entire training session took about 15 minutes to teach.
We love to take all of our 2 and 3 year olds on the judged obstacle trail rides that are held in our area...and we like to be COMPETITIVE!
This filly will be going on her first judged ride in 2 weeks! We will let you know how she does.

video one: safely showing a scary obstacle for the very first time. Remember! The goal is safety for you and your horse.

video two: She accepts the new obstacle( with help)

video three: Negotiating with Confidence!
