Seniors Get a Lift
ITN GreaterBoston will give its first rides to seniors living in MetroWest and in the suburbs of Boston at the end of this month. It seems like not so long ago when ITNAmerica Founder Katherine Freund (see "Riding in Style") visited the Foundation's offices to talk to community members about the benefits of having a service like ITN in their backyard. Since then, ITNGreaterBoston's Executive Director, Jean Patel Bushnell, has opened offices in downtown Framingham and Boston, visited senior centers, met with local political and business leaders, attracted donors and recruited volunteers.
Bushnell, who was hired by ITNGreater Boston's board to launch the service in Greater Boston, has a personal stake in seeing the it succeed and grow. Read more about how she's "Driven to Succeed."

New Year, New GrantsOur first grants of 2012 are here.
have been made about the more than $1 million in grant funding 15 agencies are receiving. Now what? The grantees roll up their sleeves and get to work using Foundation funds to kick off, expand and improve upon health programs that change the lives of MetroWest residents. Here at the Foundation we begin doing some of the behind the scenes work to help grantees understand what we expect and how we can help them put their money into action. Our first step is to host a new grantee meeting later this month. |
| On Board
We are pleased to report that the Board of Trustees reelected Henry Barr as chair, Dana Neshe as vice chair, Kevin Foley as treasurer and Joel Barrera as clerk for one-year terms at their December meeting.
The board also approved the reappointment of Rosemarie Coelho, Regina Marshall and Adam Rogers for three-year terms.
And, after five years of service as a trustee on the board, we said goodbye to Brenda Thompson Stuckey. We thank Brenda for her dedication to governance and oversight of the Foundation.
