Double-Goal Coach®
Positive Charting
Positive Charting is simple - but not necessarily easy. It requires effort, the effort to observe. As Yogi Berra is reported to have said, "it's amazing what you can see if you look."
Positive Charting is a method for increasing the number of "right things" that your players do. It also creates a positive atmosphere in which players are more receptive to being corrected because they feel appreciated. Second-Goal Parent™
Adopt a Tell-Me-More Attitude
Brenda Ueland penned one of the most important essays on relationships ever written, Tell Me More. "When we are listened to, it creates us, makes us unfold and expand. Ideas actually begin to grow within us and come to life."
Adopt the attitude that you want your child to tell-you-more ("I really want to hear what you have to say."), and then listen to what he has to say - even if you don't agree with it or like it.
Think of your conversation with your child as an Olympic event with judges. A conversation that rates a 9 or 10 is one in which the child does more talking and the parent more listening!

Triple-Impact Competitor™
Leadership is the Release of Energy
Have you ever been on a team where everything seemed to click, where everyone pulled together, where the sum was greater than the parts because talents meshed so well (think 1 + 1 = 3)? Most of us have been part of a team that didn't reach its potential. The fortunate among us have been in situations where teams performed beyond anyone's expectations due to inspired leadership that "released the energy" of the team.
Release more energy on your team by avoiding these two leadership mistakes!
- "Yell-and-Tell" - People who yell-and-tell rarely gain people's commitment because no one likes being verbally abused or always told what to do. In fact, yelling-and-telling shuts people down and kills
the leadership in others.
- "My-Way-or-the-Highway" - This approach usually gets in the way of people committing to a team. Helping people feel good about being part of a team, on the other hand, is leadership. Triple-Impact Competitors look for ways to develop cohesion among teammates, to build the confidence of their teammates, and to unite the team around its common goal.
