ARTS TOUR ISLAND TIME Just off the coast of Seattle, Bainbridge and Vashon islands are worlds away from the city scene
Impressions of Seattle typically include mountains encircling the city
like a necklace, Mount Rainier its brightest jewel. But tucked away in
the waters of Puget Sound, a string of islands adds another dimension.

MR. ZAGAR'S OPUS Isaiah Zagar builds an evolving, sparkling mosaic masterpiece in downtown Philadelphia
The black words march across a glittering, colorful wall: "Art is the
center of the real world." Those strolling through Isaiah Zagar's Magic
Gardens in Philadelphia undoubtedly appreciate that sentiment. An
intriguing tangle of shapes, wild color and flash, the outdoor
"gardens" are a concrete maze of sorts, with every inch smothered in
Zagar's signature ceramic tiles and found objects: discarded mirrors,
dishes, bottles, rusty bike wheels and Christmas ornaments.
