Spring is here
and it is time to Lighten Up: Body, Mind and Soul. My mantra for the past 2
years has been simplification and every spring I have created a ritual of
cleaning out the old and bringing in the new. But it definitely is not an
easy process and I find I get quite attached to my stuff.
Here are some tips to help you Lighten Up this Spring!
1) BODY:
With warmer weather on the way it is time to shed those layers and shed those
extra pounds. Lay off the sugar for the month: cut out sodas, sports
drinks, sugary foods, fast foods and processed foods. If you are really
motivated join one of our practitioners, either Dr. Tiffany Binder or Dr. Tim
Price for a Spring Cleanse!
2) MIND:
Clear the clutter out of your
home. Take it one room at a time. As you go through you stuff, ask
yourself, "does this item bring beauty and pleasure into my life? Do I use
this item on a regular basis?" If the answer is no for both questions, put
it in the donation pile. If you have a larger more expensive item, list
it on craigs list for sale. You would be amazed what you can get for your
items, and they haul them away for you! Doesn't get any easier and it
feels great to give your things a new home.
3) SOUL:
In our busy lives it is really important to practice extreme
self care. Because one of the most valuable assets you have is your
health. When you have your health it is easy to take for granted and to
keep pushing yourself in our fast paced, driven world. I am here to tell
you to turn off the television, kick up your feet, read a great book, take a
long bath, get a massage, but treat yourself to something that nurtures your
soul. Take at
least 4 hours every week to do something just for you, if you can take the
whole day even better!

What is Tuina Bodywork?
 Tuina
comes from ancient China
and is a series of pressing, tapping, and kneading that removes blockages along
the meridians of the body and stimulates the flow of Qi and blood to promote
healing, similar to the principles of Acupuncture. Tuina uses specific
trigger points that the therapists does deep hands on bodywork on specific
points. It is definitely a deep form of bodywork and can sometimes be
painful and is great for:
In a typical Tuina session, the patient wears loose
clothing. After answering some brief questions about the nature and location of
the health problem as well as basic questions about general health, allergies
and other existing conditions, Dr. Tsai will concentrate on specific
acupressure points, energy trigger points, muscles and joints surrounding the
affected area.
Don't expect a light, relaxing massage, this therapeutic
method goes directly after the problems, sometimes requiring significant
pressure.
Treatment sessions last from 30 minutes to over an hour.
Patients often return for additional treatments for chronic conditions. As with
most "energy-based" treatments, the patient usually feels either
relaxed and tired, or surprisingly energized by the treatment and release of
pain.
