Hot Stone Therapy The perfect cold weather treatment
What is hot stone therapy?
Hot Stone Massage is a specialty massage that uses smooth, heated basalt stones all of different sizes and shapes. It is a style of massage therapy in which the stones are placed at specific sites on the body to promote relaxation and healing and to help open up the energetic meridians. The heat of the stones helps the muscles release more quickly.
Generally at the beginning of the treatment the therapist warms up the body with a relaxation massage, with oil, then incorporates the hot stones throughout the massage. Then the therapist will generally leave the hot stones on various parts of your body. If you have inflammation or muscle injury, cold stones are sometimes used.
Hot stone therapy has roots in Native American Spirituality and typically you are taken into another world. Be prepared to leave the busyness of everyday life at the door, and relax and let the experience soak in.
Hot Stone treatments can be done in 60-120 minute sessions. If you are experiencing hot stone for the first time I would recommend booking a 90 minute session.
Benefits of Hot Stone Massage: * Promotes deep muscle and tissue relaxation * Alleviates stress * Releases toxins * Relieves pain * Improves circulation * Calms the psyche
Health Conditions Treated with Hot Stone Massage * Muscular aches and pains * Back Pain * MS * Arthritis * Fibromyalgia * Stress, Anxiety * Circulatory problems * Insomnia * Depression
