Halloween Nutrition!!
Happy Halloween to you all!! Tis the season for spooky haunted houses, costumes, and, of course,...lots of candy. This year make sure you AND your kids have a healthy meal before indulging in the trick-or-treat bounty. Studies show that eating sugar with proteins and fats can minimize the glucose spike and the inevitable crash - leaving lots of energy to trick-or-treat the night away. Below are a few seasonal ideas, compliments of our partner Whole Foods Market, to inspire your Halloween night dinner.
Pumpkin Seed Pesto - Toss with your favorite pasta and grilled chicken and serve with vegetable sticks with ranch for dipping.
Butternut Panzanella Salad - This Fall bread salad is a great side for baked pork chops, and your kids will love it!
Slow Cooker Pot Roast - A perfect time saver! Place all ingredients in the slow cooker in the morning and come evening, all you have to do is toss a salad.
Chicken Piccata - A classic that is quick and easy. Serve with steamed veggies and couscous or rice.
The Wellness Center wishes you and your family a happy and healthy Halloween!
