New Practice Policies -
Effective April 15
|
Please note the following new practice policies, which we will begin
implementing on April 15, 2010:
· Cancellations. If you need to cancel an
appointment with our office, you must do so the day before your scheduled appointment. If you
need to cancel the evening prior, please call the office and leave a message on
our non-urgent voicemail or e-mail us. Patients who do not observe this new
cancellation policy will be considered "no shows" and will be charged a fee.
No-show fees are $25 for follow-up appointments and $40
for physicals and preoperative evaluations.
·
High-Deductible
Insurance Payments. Patients with high-deductible health savings account (HSA) insurance
plans, with no co-pays for office visits, will be required to pay in full for
their visit at the time of service. We will offer a 10% discount for patients
paying in full. If you can provide proof that your deductible has been met for
the year (either through an explanation of benefits or a printout from your
insurance carrier), we will waive this policy. Otherwise, you will need to pay
in full (cash, check or credit card) at the time of your visit.
·
Outstanding
Account Balances. If you have an outstanding account balance with
our office, you will need to make a partial payment at the time of check-in for
your next visit, or you will not be seen. We will notify you two days prior to
your appointment, at the time of your confirmation call, if you have an overdue
balance.
If you have any questions about the new policies,
please contact Keri Rickenbaugh at 513.271.5111.

Take Charge of Your Health Information
|
We've always encouraged our patients to take a proactive approach to
their health. And now you can take an active role in managing your health
information as well. In the coming
months, we'll be offering a new service for patients, through which we'll help
you establish your own online personal health record (PHR).
Google Health's PHRs allow you to:
-- Organize your health information all in one place.
-- Gather your medical records from doctors,
hospitals and pharmacies.
-- Share your information securely with a family
member, doctors or caregivers.
Watch for details on this
new service, coming soon! |
How Much Is Too Much?
|
Shoulder pain and grooves. Poor
posture. Neck tension. Difficulty finding shirts that fit. These symptoms are all too
familiar for women suffering from mammary hyperplasia, or large breasts - a
condition that not only represents significant health risks, but also can limit
physical activity and become a source of self-consciousness. In this month's
Medical Minute, plastic surgeon Allison E. Lied, MD, discusses the benefits of
breast reduction surgery. Click here to learn more about why so many women only wished they'd done
it sooner.

Response to Fosomax Fracture Reports
|
As you may have seen or
heard in the news recently, preliminary research presented at the Annual
Meeting of the American Academy of Orthopaedic
Surgeons suggests a link between bone-strengthening drugs like
Fosomax and increased risk of bone fractures. We asked local expert Nelson
Watts, MD, director of UC's Bone Health and Osteoporosis Center, about his take
on the findings. Click here
to visit our Better Health Blog and learn more about the risks and benefits
associated with this common osteoporosis treatment.

Coming Soon!
|
This spring we will
celebrate the official launch of Carespring Integrative Medicine, an initiative
of Carespring Health Care Management, directed by Dr. Larkin and integrative
medicine specialist Dr. Josefa Rangel. Located at Carespring's Oakley Campus of
Living, the program will offer consultations and wellness-plan development to
optimize your health or treat your chronic health conditions. Watch for details
in upcoming e-newsletters!

Pre-College Physicals -
Schedule Now
We encourage you to schedule
pre-college physicals early, preferably in the spring of the patient's high
school senior year, as appointment times in July and August fill up quickly.
Physicals require 40 minutes with each patient, as well as time to complete
paperwork.
Traveling Abroad This Summer?
We gladly offer travel consultations and vaccinations for your
convenience. We stock many travel vaccinations and will provide you with
current travel information and disease-prevention recommendations for the
specific destination(s) you will visit. Note that travel consults should be scheduled six
to eight weeks prior to your departure, to allow ample time for us to
effectively administer the appropriate immunizations. Please be aware that your
insurance plan may not cover travel services and travel vaccines; therefore, you
may ultimately be responsible for payment.
Call 513.271.5111 or e-mail officeinfo@lisalarkinmd.com today
to schedule your appointment.
