Colorectal Cancer Awareness
While discussions of colorectal cancer awareness may not be a hit in polite circles of conversation (Remember when breast cancer awareness wasn't either?), some refuse to even speak or listen in private.

In honor of National Colorectal Cancer Awareness Month, colorectal surgeon Janice Rafferty, MD, tackles this uncomfortable but important topic in our latest Medical Minute. Click here to learn more about the signals your body sends and who should be listening!
Welcome Susan Stegman, MD

This month, we welcome our eighth provider to the practice. Dr. Susan Stegman has been practicing internal medicine in Greater Cincinnati since 1996, and has served as an independent medical examiner and as assistant medical director and physician consultant for several insurance companies. She has a particular research interest in women's heart disease. A graduate of the University of Notre Dame, Dr. Stegman earned her medical degree from the University of Cincinnati College of Medicine and completed her residency at The Christ Hospital.

Dr. Stegman, as well as Dr. Miller and certified nurse practitioner Anna Fox, who joined us last year, are currently accepting new patients. If you are happy with your care at Lisa Larkin, MD, & Associates, we welcome and appreciate the opportunity to care for your family and friends.

Those wishing to schedule an appointment should contact our office at 513.271.5111 or officeinfo@lisalarkinmd.com. For more information on our providers, visit us online at www.lisalarkinmd.com.

Myths and Reality of Plastic Surgery
Shows like Extreme Makeover and Dr. 90201 may make for entertaining television, but they don't accurately portray the reality of plastic surgery. In fact, plastic surgery is a lot less glamorous than you think. Check out these five common myths, debunked:

1.     Plastic surgery is for the "rich and famous." In fact, most patients are working middle class, with the vast majority having total annual household incomes less than $90,000.
2.     Plastic surgery is for the "vain." In fact, most patients have one troublesome area that has affected their self-image for years or have a portion of their face or body that has been altered with aging, pregnancy or weight change.
3.     Only plastic surgeons perform cosmetic and reconstructive surgery. In fact, there are no regulations as to which physicians can perform plastic surgery.
4.     Extreme makeovers are the norm. In fact, most patients have just one particular area that bothers them.
5.     Plastic surgery is rare. In fact, many procedures are minimally invasive and are performed very frequently in the office.

Dr. Lied is a board-certified plastic surgeon specializing in body contouring, facial rejuvenation, breast reconstruction and oncoplastic surgery - the reshaping and rebuilding of the breast, concurrent with cancer removal. Her practice, Lied Plastic Surgery, is located in our building on Red Bank.

FREE CONSULTATION! Curious about breast or body contouring? Enjoy a complimentary consultation with Dr. Lied during the month of March or April. Call 513.272.1999 today to schedule.

 Coumadin Clinic Now Open

Don't forget, our new Coumadin clinic, directed by certified nurse practitioner AnnaFox, is now open on Thursdays. Not only will this valuable service offer patients on long-term anticoagulation therapy same-day results and dosing instructions; it also will allow our providers to better manage abnormal results and eliminate late-night calls with abnormal test results. Please note, to accommodate Anna's schedule, we will no longer offer walk-in nurse visits for blood draws; however, your primary care provider can and will continue to test and manage your anticoagulation therapy for you at your normally scheduled appointments.

To schedule your upcoming testing appointment with Anna, contact us at 513.271.5111 or officeinfo@lisalarkinmd.com.

Gynecology Practice Moves Into New Space

Please note that Dr. Cindy Dellinger has moved her gynecology practice into a new office space, just down the hall in our building on Red Bank. In addition to providing routine gynecological services, she offers focused attention to adolescent concerns and menopause matters. Our office will continue to handle scheduling for Dr. Dellinger.

To set up an appointment, speak with a staff member or e-mail us at officeinfo@lisalarkinmd.com.

Thank you again for the opportunity to participate in your health care. We hope you will take advantage of the many resources available to you, and we look forward to serving you soon!

As always, we place great value on open communication with you. If you ever have any questions or comments, please don't hesitate to contact us at 513.271.5111 or officeinfo@lisalarkinmd.com.
