TLC Fashion Tips

Take the time to try on clothes before you purchase them! Just because you are one size in one store does not mean you're the same size in another store. Rule of thumb: the more expensive the clothes, the smaller size you will need. I've observed this often with clients as well as when working at a high-end boutique. If you don't have time to try on before you buy, make sure you're aware of the return policy, and try on your clothes BEFORE the return deadline.
Home Decor Takes Cues from Fashion World

When I was working as a product developer for a leading textile manufacturer, a lot of our inspiration came from the fashion world and visa versa.  Many of the trends in color, texture, shape, etc., may emerge in one field and then translate over to the other. Keep this in mind if you're looking to revive your wardrobe or your décor.

Looking for new ideas to decorate a room? Look no further than your closet. Pick out your favorite three items to wear: maybe your brushed gold bracelet, red suede pumps and charcoal gray pencil skirt. They do not have to be items that you wear together; they just have to be the items you love to wear, and feel the best in. Use these items as your inspiration to decorate your room. Use the patterns, colors, textures and style. If you feel good wearing it, you feel good living in it!

Again, like fashion, pick a fun, accent piece and work around it. You should have one eye catching, conversation piece-maybe a funky chair or a retro-inspired rug. Just like when wearing a memorable outfit, you want to have one great eye-popping piece to grab the attention it deserves.

Wall paper is making a huge comeback! Keep that in mind when looking for something new to do to your walls. You could wallpaper just one accent wall or maybe the back of bookshelves.

It's amazing how many times I have gone into a client's house and all he or she needed was a fresh pair of eyes to rearrange the room and add a few items to pull it together. A room always looks complete with curtains and the right accessories... pillows, artwork and decorations.
What's Hot for Cool Weather Fashion?

Men:  Stop categorizing your clothes as "dress" shoes, "work" shirts and "weekend" pants. You should be mixing and matching. Black wing tip shoes can be worn with pinstripe suits as well as chinos. Weekend sweaters dress up with a "work" shirt underneath. You'll be surprised at how many new looks you can create by expanding your options-even within your own closet.

Women: Cropped slouch trousers are making a comeback! You'll be seeing them in all different materials. Silk will be a great buy, because you can wear now with sweaters and boots, then wear them into spring and summer with heels and sandals.
