Catching the Travel Bug and Win Two Fuji Cameras

Catching the Travel Bug by Erica Ehm

One of the biggest changes in my life post kids was giving up travel. Travel equalled unnecessary stress. When I'd hit the road with kids I came back so exhausted I needed a freakin' vacation - badly. The good news is I'm happy to report there is a correlation with kids getting older and a family starting to travel. I'm not talking about an all inclusive stay at in a luxury resort in Florida. That's easy peasy. I'm talking being a tourist. Hitting the road, being adventurous, staying out late without tantrums and having the whole family come back inspired.
This is the year it all changed for us. San Francisco, Cayman Islands and Arizona were three destinations the four of us experienced this year. Not only did it bring our family closer, it made my kids about a thousand times smarter.
This month we've put together an international bunch of articles about taking trips, being prepared, traveling with or without kids, or even just dreaming about it. Cuz sooner or later, mummy's gotta get away! Click for more...

Hardest Part of a Girlfriends Getaway by Kathy Buckworth
|

|

|
The hardest part about getting away for a Girls' Weekend holiday is not convincing my husband that I'm going to do it (what, he's listening?), it's preparing "the list". The husband-list has the time the kids need to go to school, doctors' numbers, sports schedules, medications to be taken, and even directions to the nearest grocery store (it's that big cement building with the giant red "D" on the front.) But there are many things that could go on the list I would rather my husband discover for himself. For instance... Click for more... |

A Romantic Epiphany by Joanna Biafore
|

|

|
It had been six months since my son Hayden was born and six months since my husband Marcus and I had a moment to ourselves. We were like passing ships in the night so you can understand why Marcus insisted we get away for our anniversary. Although the idea sounded fantastic the thought of leaving my son behind did not. I couldn't possibly trust anyone with my baby, nor would I want to! Thanks goodness my husband has a way of talking me into things because it turned out to be one of the best weekends of my life... Putting Sarah Richardson to the TestI just interviewed Sarah Richardson. If you like interior decorating, chances are you know who she is. You know, Sarah Richardson on Design Inc. and Sarah's house? Yeah, THAT Sarah Richardson. Well, Sarah's not just a design guru. She's also a mother of two young children and new spokeswoman for Clorox Green Works so I took the opportunity to ask her for some laundry tips. And even though I was a bit star struck, I'm still skeptical at heart...so after the interview I went and put her laundry tips to the test...

Your Post-Hallowe'en Recovery PlanSo you went a little overboard with the miniature peanut butter cups? Didn't we all? At 38 weeks pregnant and housing a human being who is gaining ½ pound per week at this stage of development, I was POWERLESS against those little bars. Those evil little bars. This morning I had a tiny Crispy Crunch for breakfast. I need this blog as much as you do. You might be tempted to starve yourself for the next week to make up for your indiscretions, but how about trying an approach that actually works? Starve yourself and you will: Click for more... |

Moms
are inundated with mysteries. Like the mystery meat sitting in a Tupperware
container at the back of the fridge and the mystery of the disappearing dryer
socks. But when was the last time you had a chance to sit down and read
a mystery?
This month, just for joining, ten lucky mummies are going to win The
Daughters of Freya - a captivating mystery told through emails
exchanged among the characters. But instead of reading the emails in a book,
you'll receive them as part of your regular email over the three weeks it takes
for the mystery to unfold in "real time" - as if the characters in
the book are copying you on the emails they're sending each other!
And if you ever figure out the mystery of the missing socks... send us an
email. We'd like the answer to that one, too.
