Mummy of a Child Star by Alison Sheets

I'm the single mummy of twelve year old actress/singer Aria Wallace. You may know her as "Roxy Hunter" or Hilary Duff's little sis in "The Perfect Man". We've been making our way through Hollywood for 7 years. You probably think being the mummy of a child star is all about luxurious days at the spa, shopping on Rodeo Drive and driving around Hollywood and Beverly Hills in Bentleys, right? WRONG! Mummy Asked An Expert: Parenting

Yummy Mummy Laura H. from Oakville, Ontario asks: I am a single mother of two boys and recently, my 12 year old has started to defy me and will do things like use his body to block my way or sit in front of the TV and turn it off when his brother wants to watch. I am at a loss. He lives part-time with his dad and part-time with me and I know he is suffering from that. Our Expert Jennifer Kolari answers: Intuitively you understand that your son is likely having difficulty not living with you full time, and that his approaching adolescence can bring with it some of these negative behaviors. It is important to know that kids...

My Arizona Adventures : Day One
Mummy needed a vacation. I was burnt out, working too hard, not spending enough time with my family. I started the search for a family friendly destination with great weather and opportunity for adventure.Tapping into my inner cowgirl, I chose Arizona (thanks to the Arizona Tourist Board) - a perfect combination of my two requirements.
Traveling with kids is never easy, but my 8 year old son and 5 year old daughter did remarkably well on the four hour flight. Despite being awake since 4:30 am they helped lug our bags (I overpacked) to the rental car. Once we were locked, loaded and on the road... Click for more... |

Introducing Our Newest Blogger

Candace Derickx: See Mummy JuggleIt's hard to believe I'm writing a blog for the Yummy Mummy Club. I met Erica Ehm and asked her if she had a mummy blogger who was returning to work after staying at home. Imagine my surprise when she offered me the job right there and then. So here I am, ready to bare my soul to you on a fairly frequent basis. I am told that since this is my first blog post I should tell you a little bit about myself. You know, the who, what, where, when and why of how I got here. There's time for that, but not this week. This week is about clearing the air. This week is about apologizing to working mothers everywhere...

Too Posh to Push?
Having recently survived my sixth c-section, I can confirm with even greater confidence that people who 'choose' to have a c-section over a vaginal delivery are absolutely mad.
Ah, the envy I experience when I visit a mama friend an hour after she has given birth. There she is, freshly showered as she sips champagne with new babe nuzzling into her breast. Generally at about that point post delivery... Click for more... |

Mummy Wins Movies for a Year

When you're a new mom, going to see a movie doesn't happen a lot because a crying baby in the midst of a theatre usually doesn't go over well - unless you're at Movies for Mommies, a movie matinee event exclusively for new parents. You can enjoy grown-up movies with your baby, crying is welcome and the volume is reduced to protect their little ears. This month we're giving away a year's worth of Movies for Mommies passes to three lucky winners valued at $50. That's enough passes to see a movie a month for the whole year. Click to win... |
