Hello Friends of Parlando,
Welcome to a new semester at Parlando!
The Spring 2012 Semester promises to be one of our best yet with the return of some great classes and some exciting new programming additions - all taught by some of the most talented, experienced and passionate instructors in the region.
Here are some highlights of our 2012 Spring Semester:
- Students looking for a more rigorous experience in piano or a stringed instrument should look into our Advanced Piano Academy (APA) or Advanced String Academy (ASA). These comprehensive programming additions integrate private lessons, group classes, performance experiences and access to guest artists. These programs are a must for students considering pursuing music at the collegiate level. Contact Emily Book McGree for more information about the APA (emily@parlando.org) or Liz Dinwiddie for more information about the ASA (liz@parlando.org).
- Musical Theater Workshop with Tracy Warren: This class is the evolution of our popular fall "Triple Threat" series. Join Broadway, National Tour and Regional Theater veteran Tracy Warren in this complete musical theater workout for aspiring "triple threat" performers. Students will become part of a talented and hardworking ensemble as they replicate the professional working experience of creating several all-sing, all-dancing musical numbers sampled from historic, traditional and/or contemporary styles. As each number entails singing, dancing and acting, the workshop will also include technical coaching and basic training in these areas as well as the integration of these three skills. The session will culminate in an open class in which family and friends may view the ensemble's process and final production numbers. Participants also get to attend working rehearsals for Boulder's Dinner Theater Productions that are normally closed to the public. Contact Kristina Fuller for more information (kristina@parlando.org).
- Are you an adult who used to play piano and wish you hadn't stopped? Or perhaps an adult who has always wanted to try piano but just haven't gotten around to it? Make a resolution to give it a try this semester with our Recreational Music Making (RMM) class. It's fun and you'll learn a lot. And, because of a grant we've received, it's 50% off this semester for all participants. Contact Emily Book McGree for more information (emily@parlando.org).
- Expanded Kids N Keys Programming: All of our advertised Kids N Keys classes have met minimum enrollment and we are adding new classes for the spring semester. Late-registrants can join existing classes (space permitting) or help start a new class. To start a new class we only need 3 students of similar age who are free at a mutually agreeable time with one of our instructors in the piano lab. Contact Emily Book McGree for more information (emily@parlando.org).
- This spring and summer marks the return of an annual staged musical at Parlando. Auditions for OLIVER will be in February with rehearsals beginning in April and shows in June. For more information: http://www.parlando.org/special-event-oliver-theater.html. This show is under the direction of Gene Roberts. Toby Tenenbaum will be the music director.
More information about these classes and much, much more can be found online at parlando.org. We hope to see you in a lesson or class very soon! Best,
Travis V. LaBerge
