The mission of Parlando School For The Arts is to be Colorado's premier arts school where people of all ages and abilities come together to share the language of music and the arts.  During the week of November 27th, you'll be receiving our end-of-year fundraising letter and donation form.  I hope that you'll help my family and me share the language of music and the arts through a charitable donation to Parlando. 

Nietzsche said that, "Without music, life would be a mistake" and that, "In music the passions enjoy themselves."  As parents we love to see our children discover their passions through different activities.  When I was a child, music was the tool through which I learned to express myself and, ultimately, was the driving force behind who I am today.  From tuition assistance to a college scholarship to teachers giving me extra lessons to some of you mentoring me, I have received help at many different points along my path. I have striven to make the most of the opportunities given to me by generous people and now I work every day to try to give those same opportunities to others.      

Having been a part of music education in Boulder for over 12 years, I have seen music affect students in powerful ways.  I have countless stories of students who have used the life-skills that music teaches and reinforces to excel in various areas of their lives:

• Students who use communication and interpretation to better express themselves and then realizing the joy and empowerment inherent in finding one's unique voice;
• Students who use the self-confidence that mastery of a practiced skill provides and then experiencing the exhilaration and happiness of realizing that they can try many new things and be good at them as well; and
• Students who share their music with others and then seeing the affect that has on both performer and audience member alike.  

It's a powerful connection when we share music.  It's a different type of communication and expression.  It's part of what bonds us together and reveals our commonalities. 

Please support our children's passions and development by making a donation to Parlando before December 31st.  As an added benefit, between now and December 31st the Bright Mountain Foundation has agreed to match every new dollar we raise up to $5,000.
