Hello Friends of Parlando,
At Parlando we believe that music is an important way to learn and reinforce valuable life-skills such as communication, expression, teamwork and critical thinking. In addition to the life-changing lessons and classes we offer every week, we also strive to support the critical music education that takes place in classrooms throughout our community. To this end, since 2007 Parlando has provided more than 300 days of supplemental music education in BVSD classrooms. With the beginning of the 2011-2012 school year upon us, we want to share with you a way we are jumpstarting the new school year for our students and colleagues in BVSD:
On Saturday August 27th we will be holding a FREE Instrumental Showcase. Students who are playing, or want to learn to play, violin, viola, cello or clarinet can come to the Dairy Center from 9-10am and take a free class/group lesson on any of these instruments. Students can use this as an introduction to their new instrument or as a refresher if the instrument has gotten a little dusty over the summer. Students need to bring their own instruments and register for the class ahead of time at parlando.org. Students in grades 3-12 may participate.
Then, later that same morning, we will be having a FREE Kids N Keys open house class. From 10:30-11:15am students ages 5-9 can come and take a free demo class and learn more about our popular group piano class for beginners. Students don't need to bring anything but do need to register ahead of time.
Separate from our 8/27 Instrumental Showcase/Open House we will also be offering a FREE preview of our new Young Mozarts class, taught by me! The free preview class for Young Mozarts will be on Thursday 8/25 from 9-9:30 in our Large Rehearsal Room in the Dairy Center. Attendance is free but registration/RSVP is required: http://activenet.active.com/parlandoschool/
If you would like more information about these free classes or any of our other offerings, please do not hesitate to contact us!
Best,
