Hello, Friends . . .

My colleague Pat House of Vanishing World, LLC, is organizing two safaris in Tanzania this winter. One is full but she still has room on one that will begin on December 28, 2011, and run through January 8, 2012. What better way to celebrate the New Year than on safari in Tanzania!

Having been on 3 safaris with Pat, I can personally testify that a safari with Pat and her partner Andrew Uronu of Safari Tracks is a life-changing experience. The accommodations are great and Andrew is a superb naturalist and guide. Below are a detailed itinerary and the contact information. Please don't hesitate to call or email me if you have questions. Be sure to mention Ridge Art when contacting Pat.

We are pleased to introduce you to the classic safari adventure in Tanzania

including wildlife viewing on game drives, luxury camping and lodging, cultural  experiences, and amazing vistas with a variety of landscapes from Acacia  Woodlands to vast Savannas. The itinerary includes the most extraordinary wildlife site in East Africa, the famous Serengeti during the migration season. Charter flights make it possible to cover long distances and see a better overview of this amazing country.

elephantGame drives are the heart of a safari- taking off at first light, hunting the animals, brunch picnics in the wild, returning to lunch and rest, then off at sunset, again searching for the perfect photographic image or just the memory of beautiful creatures living in untamed nature and in their unaltered habitats. Tanzania does not fence their parks so you're able to see more, true wilderness. Game drives are fun and challenging; you soon realize that our guides have super eyes.

giraffeThirty years of experience makes it possible for us to give you a very professional and personal experience in Tanzania. Both Andrew Uronu and I have hosted academic grous, wildlife photographers, adventure travelers and those who just want to see the most extraordinary wildlife in the world.

Thanks for your interest, Pat

Plan to arrive on December 28th to Kilimanjaro International Airport and you'll be picked up by our guide, and driven to Ngare Sero Mountain Lodge.

  • Overnight Ngare Sero Mt. Lodge.

Ngare Sero Lodge was built in the early part of the 20th century using local stone and timber. The lodge was originally the home for a family who raised horses in Tanzania. The public rooms are warm and comfortable. The main living area has a walk in stone fireplace and a large veranda, offering splendid views of the surrounding countryside. Some mornings the pines off to the left of the veranda frame views of Mt. Kilimanjaro. Guesthouses are arranged around a large grassy area decorated with mature plants and trees. Many birds and smaller animals live on the property: especially interesting is the Colobus monkey.

Dec 29th Depart Ngare Sero Mt Lodge and fly to Ndutu Conservation area of the Serengeti

Dec 29, 30 and 31st Serengeti

  • Overnights at Ndutu Safari Lodge

Ndutu Safari Lodge is located near the entrance to the Serengeti National Park in the center of the Serengeti Conservation area within easy reach to the prime wildlife theatres of Northern Serengeti, the southern grass plains, the Seronera Valley and the kopjes. Ndutu Lodge is the classic safari lodge built in the 50's to be home to wild life photographers. The lodge is located at the bend of the river that borders the Serengeti and provides water to the migrating animals. The location is perfect. No other lodge has been allowed the opportunity to be in this prize spot. Ndutu is still the home to wild life photographers. The clientele is limited to a few tour groups and we are fortunate to have made this reservation.

The Serengeti is world heritage site and one of the last remaining wildlife spectacles on earth. The stark beauty and abundant wildlife of this enormous Lionsanctuary has made its name synonymous with adventure. Images of wildlife on the plains of the Serengeti consist of vast herds of antelope, lines of wildebeest, prides of lions and the constant interaction of wildlife struggling to survive. The Serengeti includes many areas with their own identities- like the kopjes and the Maasai Mara but these are only small parts of this vast National Park. To acquire a better appreciation of the Serengeti, our drivers take us across different areas of the park.

MaasaiThe name Serengeti comes from a Maasai word that translates as "the place where the land moves forever". The horizon seems to never end and the sky is decorated with cloud formations and an occasional rainbow. The Serengeti ecosystem is one of the oldest on earth. The essential features of climate, vegetation and fauna have barely changes in the past million years.
