Illustrations for sale for a very special and personalized gift

Stephanie
Artist, herbalist, illustrator and author Stephanie Rose Bird is graciously allowing us to sell the illustrations from her recent books, A Healing Grove and Sticks, Stones, Roots and Bones. The unframed drawings are done in black sumi-e ink on 100% rag paper. She will personally inscribe each purchased drawing per the instructions of the buyer.

The subject matter includes drawings of the West African and Caribbean Vodou spirits, a variety of healing plants, herbalist tools and more. The sizes range from 4" x 5" up to 8" x 10" and the prices from $50 to $125. Some of the drawings are shown below. We would be happy to email photos of others if you have a subject in mind that is not shown. This is a great opportunity to give a loved one a personalized gift of art this holiday season. Both books by Ms Bird are also available for sale.

Haitian coffee from Cap Rouge
just arrived

We just returned from our fall buying trip to Haiti and brought back coffee beans from the mountains of Cap Rouge outside of Jacmel. The coffee is grown and roasted by the women of Just Grow, a neighborhood peasant organization that was started several years ago by artist and activist Paula Hyppolite. The goal of Just Grow is to provide the women in her area an opportunity to make a fair living wage while developing independence and environmental awareness. The coffee is delicious and the price is right, $8 for 8 ounces. A perfect stocking stuffing for the coffee gourmand on your list.

Client deaccession sale weekend slated for February

On February 19-21 we will be having a client deaccession sale. This is an opportunity for our local clients to sell art they no longer want in their collections.
Here's how it's going to work. We will be accepting pieces for the sale February 11-14 at the gallery during our regular business hours. We will receipt each piece out listing the desired sale price on the receipt. Ridge Art's commission will be 50%. The following weekend the sale will begin on Friday, February 19. The hours for the sale will be Friday, February 19, 6-9, Saturday, February 20, 12-5 and Sunday, February 21, 1-5. The next weekend, February 26-28, we will return the unsold pieces and issue checks or gallery credits (client choice) to those whose work sold.
We hope the sale will enable our clients to sell what they no longer want and at the same time give others a chance to acquire a good piece of art at a bargain price.
