CELEBRATE SPRING
We just received two paintings on consignment that just shout spring and rebirth after a long, tedious winter. The yellow crucified Christ by Payas leaps out from the canvas like a daffodil (if this is sacrilegious, so be it) spilling his blood over the dull, drab earth represented by the two Adam-and-Eve-type figures on either side of him. Christ as a flower, I like that.
The celebratory spring dinner by Gerard Fortune looks like it could be a Vodou version of the last supper of Christ and his followers. At this dinner party there are only nine diners and five of them are women. Flowers are blooming everywhere and everyone is holding hands. The spirits are partying, in a dignified manner, of course. These paintings are signature works by two of Haiti's best living naive painters. They will bring joyous color and light to whatever space they grace.

SAFARI NEWS
We returned
from a wonderful 12 days in Tanzania
at the end of February. The trip included 4 days at Mahale in a nature reserve
on the shores of Lake Tanganyika. We spent 3 days in the
hills above our luxurious encampment hiking among the chimpanzees. One of our
travelers commented that seeing the chimps in the wild was like observing "a
parallel universe." They have their moral system, political intrigue, they use
tools. Truly our cousins.
Mahale was
followed by 4 days on the Serengeti during the Great Migration of gnu or
wildebeests. It's really impossible to describe the magnitude of this event.
It's like spring fling on the Serengeti. There is an abundance of food for
everyone thanks to the rains and the gnu. Tanzania
and Kenya are
the last places on earth that have this kind of migration. We were so blessed
to be able to be there.

upcoming safaris but our goal is to make the safari experience available to as
many people as possible. Therefore, if you and your family or a group of your
friends would like to do a safari together, please contact Pat House at prhouse@yahoo.com or 949-413-5440 to
discuss what you would like to do and your budget. You may be surprised at how
affordable travel to East Africa can be.
