Tennis Pros Help The Bahamas
The Mark Knowles' Celebrity Tennis Invitational
The Mark Knowles Celebrity Tennis Invitational, held on December 3 - 6, 2009 in Nassau, proved to be another fun and successful fund raising event.
The 3 day exhibition kicked off the weekend with an exclusive cocktail party hosted by Nassau's Balmoral Club. Crowds gathered to watch the entertainment and tennis talents at work throughout the weekend.

A special thanks goes to all the sponsors who contributed so generously. Also, to the world class tennis professionals who donated their time to the event. The 2010 event will celebrate the 10th anniversary and will be held December 3-5, 2010."
The results include: winner of the Pro/Am - Mark Knowles & Thierry Matthey, of Pictet Bank; Runner-up - Olga Savchuk & Juan Bacardi; and Semi-finalists - Jared Palmer & Glenn Blumberg and Robert Kendrick & Alex Pier.
Mrs. Vernice Walkine, Director General of the Bahamas Ministry of Tourism, in her welcome speech emphasized the wonderful contribution Mark makes to The Bahamas every day that he is out there playing professional tennis and giving The Bahamas free advertising with every match he plays. It was also mentioned during the events that Mark has risen to the top echelon of the tennis world and sets a wonderful example to all Bahamians.
 The event raises funds for many charities including The Cancer Society, The Boy Scouts of The Bahamas, The Children's Emergency Hospital, The Sassoon Heart Foundation and scholarships for promising junior tennis players. |

Abaco Tourism Up
5% increase in Abaco's Holiday Season this year
Preliminary data shows Abaco's holiday arrivals were up 5 percent from last year, the minister of Tourism and Aviation, Vincent Vanderpool-Wallace, said. Abaco residents and hotel owners saw a better Christmas than planned, and some remarked that many visitors did not make advance reservations, which made occupancy forecasts unpredictable.
