Improve Your Google Rankings

3 Simple Actions to do TODAY to Improve Google Rankings
Action Item #1 - Get more Reviews You're probably tired of us telling you this, but it's because Google wants them and Brides expect them!
Brides Expect to See Reviews. A recent WeddingReport.com study found that 92% of brides will read user reviews before considering booking a wedding vendor. You can thank websites like Yelp, UrbanSpoon, Amazon and Ebay. Everyone wants to be an informed consumer and with a barrage of marketing messages out there, reviews give customers a sound compass to navigate through the marketing waters and find discernable merit in your service offering. Which is better? YOU saying you're the best? Or your happy customers?
Google Wants you to be Reviewed. Google has customers too. When doing a search for a service, it wants to make sure it's giving you the cream of the crop in its top picks - otherwise, why use Google? If you're looking for a good sushi restaurant in Dallas, do you (as a customer) want Google to recommend the restaurant with the most keywords hidden in the website or the one with the most praises?? Because of this, Google is putting more weight on user reviews when considering top placement.

What YOU need to do
Make sure the websites where you advertise allow for vendor reviews and then get your brides to post reviews. Many websites (including PerfectWeddingGuide.com) will give you accolade badges to promote your positive reviews on your own website - giving you higher rankings AND credibility. Action Item #2 - Get Some Facebook Likes
Google is now considering the number of a business's Facebook fans when determining top placement. Why? Along with user reviews, Google wants to make sure that it's placing the best of the best in its number one and two spots. A high number of Facebook "likes" tells Google that you are a sound business with a solid customer base. Facebook can also be one of the top referring websites to your own business website! So you may ask, "But, if they are already fans, isn't it because they've already been to my website?" Not necessarily. Like Google, Facebook has a Search bar - advertise OFF Facebook that you have a Facebook Fanpage with your Facebook URL (ex: facebook.com/PerfectWeddingGuideNC) so brides can find your company and "Like" your business. At Perfect Wedding Guide, our new website profiles now include your Facebook and Twitter integration so you can get more Facebook Fans and Twitter followers from your own PWG profile page. What YOU need to do Make sure your print ads, business cards and all other offline marketing mentions your Facebook url. And, more importantly, update your fans. Let your fans know where you're going to be this weekend, take a picture of a wedding you are working and put it on your facebook fan page from your iphone - it takes literally seconds to do and it shows brides that you are "busy and in demand." This gives you a ton of credibility and can make a HUGE impact on your business - it takes seconds to do and it's free. Action Item # 3 - Get more content
Brides and Google also love to collect information - in this current marketing environment content is the new buzz word. If you advertise on a company's website, such as PerfectWeddingGuide.com, be sure to take advantage of their features such as company description and photo galleries. Be sure in your description to use YOUR company name every 100 words (good "Google Food"), use your business name in your company photo descriptions (also good "Google Food") Google likes to see this for relevancy and brides - well, they just like to see them. Make sure you are optimizing every opportunity that wedding websites allow you. What YOU need to doIf you advertise on wedding websites, be sure to supply them with new photos and company descriptions on a regular basis. For Perfect Wedding Guide's website, our vendors are their own admin. Updating your own website week to week might be tough - we're not all our own website designer. But you CAN update most of your company online profiles on other websites and it's just as helpful - if not more so. Like anything, out of site = out of mind. If a bride sees that you aren't updating your website, Facebook fan page, blogs or website profiles, she may think you've gone out of business. For Google, they will see your business as "stale" which is a BIG red flag in Search Engine Optimization. All of these items shouldn't take more than 10 minutes a week at most to implement. What are you doing NOW that you can't find 10 minutes to take these actions. Optimizing your online opportunities can make a HUGE impact on your company.

Let us know something about you that is unique to you and we will feature a wedding professional bi-weekly. So go ahead and send us a tidbit about yourself!
Did you know...?
...For over 20 years, my Mom and I owned & operated a full-service Bridal Salon in NJ. In the late 90's when WedAlert launched, we advertised our business in their Vendor Directory. In 2004, at the time of my Mom's retirement and retirement of our business, I called WedAlert to remove our ad on their site and was asked to join their sales team. It's been a fabulous 7 years!

You ladies also do amazing work in putting together the shows but you also take so many extra measures to make sure your vendors are prepared and that they get the most out of the event. Thanks again for the experience and I am already preparing for my next one! Veronica

I send emails out to any potential vendors and let them know how wonderful and useful we have felt the luncheons have been for us, especially for vendors just getting in to the wedding industry. Thanks for all you do! April
