How to Generate Positive Online Reviews: Get Referrals Ask your passionate customers for a positive review
| by Wendi Caplan-Carroll, Constant Contact Regional Development Director, NY Metro
Any business or organization with a goal of growing larger wants current customers and members to refer their friends. Restaurants love it when customers rave about their food and service on Yelp. Contractors want customers to tout their work on Angie's List. Retailers are keen on shoppers referring their businesses on Facebook and Twitter. Consultants and other agencies depend on people vouching for their expertise and talent. And nonprofit organizations want people to spread the word about their cause. So how do you get your customers and members talking positively about you?
To start, and this almost goes without saying, you have to offer really fantastic service by giving customers and members your best effort every time. Doing so helps create passionate customers who are more than willing to rave about your products and services to their friends, family, colleagues, and social media circle. In my seminars, I always ask people what they're a fan of and mention my fondness of the grocery store Trader Joe's. Why? I love how I'm treated when I shop there and all that the store has to offer. I rave about Trader Joe's to everyone I talk to.
If you already offer great service, then chances are good they're already raving about you online. Search for mentions of your company, product, or service on various review sites to see what people are saying already about your business. Google and Bing both index posts to major social networks, so they're great starting places that will enable you to see where people might are already be saying.
