Helena's community center for the arts opened in the former Lewis and Clark County jail in 1991. Taking its name from film legend and Montana native Myrna Loy, the center is a great example of adaptive reuse. The historic building served the community first as the Lewis and Clark County Jail from 1891 to the early 1980s. The dramatic stone castle-like fortress fits well with the Myrna's mission is to present media, performing, literary, and visual arts in an educational context.
