I'm so encouraged when I see God moving in the hearts of people to help His servants meet His call.  For example, those who responded to the call for the Breaking Free benefit concert put on through a partnership with MtM in April; those who have responded to the immense need in Haiti.

Why do we support ministries such as More than Music?  Because God is using this ministry to touch the hearts and lives of people in need.  Because God calls us to come around and support His servants.  Because they are doing what we can't do.

I thank God that He has blessed me with resources to give, and that I can sacrifice to help others in need.  Even if what I can do is ever so little - it is my gift of thanks to Him.

It is truly miraculous what has been accomplished through More than Music to date, given the relatively small band of faithful, private, financial supporters we have.  This has been due to God's faithfulness and grace, and the blessed law of multiplicity
in action.   It has also been due to the many sacrifices made by Stephanie Pauline and her family.  Stephanie has worked more than full-time for many years and has waived any salary since this nonprofit was founded in 2003 to commit more funds to the program and work of MtM.  So we can do so much with so little!  Still realistically speaking, for More than Music, Inc. to move to the next level of service, MtM needs $1700 a month in base donor support.  We currently have a shortfall of $1,100 in committeed monthly donations.

I was thinking the other day....if we just had...

*10 giving $100/mo =  $1000.
*20 giving $100/mo = $2000.
*50 giving $25/mo = $1250.
*100 giving $20/mo = $2000.

*200 giving $10/mo = $2000.

Are you prompted in your spirit to join with the other partners called to support this ministry?

Highlights & Prayers
  •  Since the last newsletter, Stephanie Pauline performed 7 concerts in CO and ND.
  • With the help of Heather Guerin, Jon Collins and Brian Kagan we are still working towards re-branding and honing the focus of MtMExpect major revamps in the months to come to the website and more concise communications about what we do and why we do it.  We pray for guidance as we develop the terminology and goals that will steer this work.
  • We are still workin to find funding for 30 Detention and drug rehab facility concerts this year.  This will involve developing an ongoing mentorship program in some facilities through partnerships with churches in their locale.
From the Heart
  By Stephanie Pauline
"We can trust the road even when the car breaks down."  These are the words I heard myself say just a couple days ago as I gave the man with whom I had been communing a two handed shake.  His car had broken down just outside of The Springs on his way to Denver.  He managed to get it to a shop and was now waiting for it to be fixed.  He had been praying that God would let His time be fruitful as he passed it in the coffee shop into which I had ambled.  There he had overheard an empassionate discourse between myself and a friend; God, purpose, leading, doubt, pain, joy - nothing was off limits.  He felt compelled to join.

Somewhere in the mix we all lost ourselves complete.  Caught up in the moment of glory, the recounting of God's great ways; entirely beyond us, yet there to be discovered and rediscovered anew time and time again.  As my heart lifted I became aware of all I had forgotten yet again.  The hope I remembered brought to my awareness the pang of doubt I had been feeling.

"How long had that been there?" I wondered.  "When did it come and why?"

As I reflected I realized it had come with pain; as doubt so often does.  The lies had ridden into my heart undetected, unbidden with unexpected angst and the hurt of less than perfect relationships.  "Why do I doubt my God just because people fail me?  How long will I respond to life's woe this way?"  I asked myself.

I still don't know the answer to that one, but as we continued to talk there that day I was freshly convinced again as I shared my ongoing story that God truly is leading my life.  The pain; the dust of walking this earth is real - but God is more real.  It's Jesus Himself that bends His knee in front of me to wash that earth from my feet.  He never lied about the hardships of living here.

When Jesus lowered Himself thusly before His disciples Peter balked, saying "No master!"  It seemed a noble move.  Jesus replied however, "Unless I wash you, you have no part with me."  In perfect form, impetuous Peter replied, "Then not just my feet, my hands and head as well!"  Jesus corrected Him yet again, ever patiently..."A person who has had a bath need only to wash his feet; his whole body is clean.  You are clean."

I have given my story over to Him after all...I am clean...my road is His.  Still, pages get ripped occasionally, cars break down, and roads are dusty.  I feel the water warm on my toes.  His hands gentle on my flesh.  With a gleam in my eye and a beam on my face I said, and now I say again, with conviction, meaning every word.. "We can trust in the road even when the car breaks down."  Press in.  Wrestle with God - till you believe with me.  Fresh faith, ever deeper, is yours.  Breathe it in.  Fight for it.  I'm here with you.
In Closing
Thank you for your investment in More than Music.  We can't do what we do without the support of people like you.  I am forever humbled by the gift of being able to help chart this ministry.  I do pray that we will truly serve as a blessing to you and to the world.
