December 2008 More than Music Inc. Newsletter
Revolutionizing the culture at large, one heart at a time, until everyone on earth knows and lives the love that is in Jesus Christ.
Greetings!

I, Stephanie, would like to start this newsletter by offering my warmest congratulations to Jennifer and Kirk Swanson, who just welcomed their fourth child into the world. Kendra Elise was born on Dec 14th.

Jennifer has been a board member of More than Music Inc. since the non profit's conception back in 2004. Today we have the privilege of hearing from her as she wrote our From the Heart some weeks ago.

(Please click on the link to listen to a special song dedicated to Jennifer and her new little one. The song was inspired by my own wee one, Aria, and cowritten by me and my friend, Elissa Leander, of The Sonflowerz.)

Highlights/Prayer Requests
by Stephanie Pauline   Oikeo Video Shoot
  • Alaska's Oikeo Radio made the trek to Colorado Springs and filmed an "Artist Roundtable" with some local talent. Matthew Ward, Fomerly of Second Chapter of Acts, The Sonflowerz, Brandon Bustamante and I, Stephanie Pauline, met with Cate Morris, a singer/songwriter from Alaska, and Melissa an on air talent. Pictured left, Matthew, Brandon and Melissa have some fun at our expense. It was an awesome time of sharing. The footage is to be used online and also for some written publications. I so enjoyed being able to meet some of my Alaskan supporters.
  • I was awarded an NCM RADIO MIKE AWARD (Awarded by NCM for merit in the promotion of Christian music to the media, 2008.)
  • "Love Never Fails" and "I Will" are on CRW's Global Inspo and AC Chart for the 22nd straight week. "Anything to be with You" went to number 11 on the Euro NCM chart this last month. "Love Never Fails," which rose to number 7 earlier in the year, was on the NCM chart for close to 15 weeks. Currently, My music is being played on over 600 radio stations worldwide with close to 200 of those being right here in the US! I am so thankful to God for giving these songs favor and for using them to bless many. Pray that God will unearth hearts and mend wounds as people around the world hear His heart through these songs.
  • The song, "Wildflower", off my Rush the Sea CD, has been chosen for a single song licensing deal and will be featured on the Walk The Line Album. This compilation, by Urban Angel, (a label and publisher out of Ireland) features the best in Acoustic/Singer Songwriter and Country Music. Wildflower is to be sent out for licensing in TV and film, and will be distributed Jan 2009 to iTunes, Napster, Virgin and other major retail and online outlets. Any monetary gain has been solely committed to More than Music Inc. Pray for God's favor so more work can be funded through MtM.
  • I did a radio interview with Greg Saporita & The Mix Online Radio Station on the phone from her living room. It's a fun way for me to stay grounded while connecting with fans and friends across the country. I am hoping to do many like interviews this coming year.
  • Alan Kramer (www.ginomai.com) did some web site updates, including uploading a live recording of a concert I performed a year and a half ago now. In it I share my testimony. For those of you who haven't heard my story live I strongly encourage you to give it a listen. The sound quality isn't the best, but you should be able to clearly hear the heart of what we do here at MtM and why we do it. Jim Daly, CEO of Focus on the Family, recently paid a visit to our site and here's what he wrote to me, "Your testimony of the Lord's presence and faithfulness from your childhood to the present is tremendously encouraging. I am also grateful to learn that He redeemed your life in the wake of a dark and rebellious period. God has certainly given you a platform to share your wonderful talent (and story) for His glory. I join you in praising Him for His goodness, Stephanie!" I hope you, like Jim, are encouraged and blessed by my story and by my music as well.
  • Please pray for Kathy Morford, our Booking and PR Manager, as she works on scheduling the 80 concert dates for 2009. Please pray that God will open the doors He wants opened and that He would give her favor and blessing.
From the Heart
By Jennifer Swanson   Jennifer and her Newborn Baby Kendra
Stephanie and I have known each other since our elementary school days in Minneapolis. We rode the bus together and learned basic sign language through library books. After "graduation," we lost touch...until I attended a school fundraiser in 2002 and saw Stephanie's demo CD on the table. "Hey, I know her!" I said--and took the CD home. I immediately fell in love with Stephanie's music, and I was heartbroken when I read her testimony on her website. It was overwhelming to think of all that had happened to someone who was such a young girl when I had seen her last. Right away, I emailed Stephanie to reconnect; and from that point on, we have been great long- distance friends. I just wish she lived in Minnesota!

It has been an honor to be a part of the More Than Music Inc ministry since its incorporation in 2004. I'm the "big meanie" on the Board, who makes everyone follow parliamentary procedures so we can have legal meeting minutes. We've had crazy discussions about everything you can imagine. The funniest conversation involved Stephanie and Genny arguing about whether they are allowed to refer to each other as "Mom" or "Sweetie."

It has also been a real eye-opener to learn just how much time and money it takes to produce a CD. I have a few of my own (from giving seminars), although they didn't cost nearly as much to produce as a music album. I'm now more than ever a huge advocate of musicians and other recording artists. I'm known to give lectures to anyone I hear say "I have that CD--I'll make a copy for you." Just because you can--and just because it's easy--doesn't mean it's right. End of mini lecture. Buy more CDs. :)

I have been blessed to witness the transformation in Stephanie's music, as well as her heart, for so many needs in our world. As a friend, she brings out truth in all our conversations and is an inspiring mother. I love and am amazed by how focused she is on her faith, family, and ministry. It's a lot to balance, but I see God shining through her and taking good care of her amidst her challenges.

How exciting to hear about Stephanie's music now being played on radio stations across the country and around the world! It's a huge step of faith, and I pray that this will lead to more CD sales and greater financial stability for More Than Music Inc.

Peace,
Jennifer

Thank you so much for taking the time to catch up with us here at More than Music Inc. We hope to be able to continue to give you a good report through 2009. We have lots of ministry plans, including 25 detention and drug rehab facility concerts, in the works for this coming year. Please keep us in your prayers, and especially remember me and my family when you speak to God. We need His special grace and guidance as we seek to do the work He has laid before us.

With thanksgiving for the blessings in 2008 and a smile at the future for 2009,
