Dear Friends,

August is the time that many of us prepare to say goodbye to the lazy days of summer and return to the structured activities of a classroom. At Open Books, however, we believe that learning is not only a year-round endeavor, but a lifetime endeavor!

One way to foster lifelong learning is to make sure that children, from a very early age, have access to books.  So, throughout August, we are offering a 20% discount on all books in our colorful Children's section.  And even if you're not picking up the latest picture or chapter book for a child in your life, remember that the proceeds from your purchases at the Open Books store will always help enrich the lives of others in the city of Chicago and beyond through reading, writing, and the power of used books.

See you soon!

Sidewalk Sale

Open Books' first sidewalk sale was a smashing success! Intrepid customers braved the heat and the early morning rain to come shop our selection of used books and help support our literacy programs. All in all, the weekend brought us more than $4,000 in program support. Thank you, sidewalk shoppers and heroic volunteers!
