 Readers Recommend... There's nothing better than discovering a new book from a friend. So share your finds with our community of readers and find out what they're loving!
Next time you're in the store, look for these cards peeking out of the tops of some of our visitors' favorites...and ask for a blank card at the desk so you can leave a recommendation too.

We shouldn't teach great books;
we should teach a love of reading.
- B.F. Skinner
Dear Open Books Friends,
When you come to the Open Books store, you will often hear us gush about the books we love (in fact, scroll down and you'll see how we're showcasing the books we adore!). We believe wholeheartedly in sharing our love of reading and our experiences with great books, and we hope that by sharing our fondness for all things literary and literacy-related, we're making our store a heartwarming place to shop.
Furthermore, it is the love you've shown us through your purchases and donations that has allowed us to encourage and nurture the love of reading in so many others!
Stop in this month to enhance your reading relationship by finding that next great book or simply by showing your loved ones what the joy of reading can do for others.

Out of the Box: Kooky Books
Every day at the Open Books store, we receive hundreds of wonderful books to put on our shelves. All of these books are fantastic, and some are just plain wacky! Most recently, these fabulous titles made their way out of the box and into our hearts:
The People's Almanac Presents: The Book of Predictions
by David Wallechinsky and Amy and Irving Wallace
Published in 1981, it informs us that in 2000, all of the Persian Gulf Countries will run out of oil (this is surely going to happen soon!) and that in 2010, solar satellites will cancel out the day/night cycle, and communities will regulate their own sun flow. Wow!
Mind Control
by Melvin Berger
Have you given any thought to mind control methodologies? If you're interested in cult conversion, hypnosis, prefrontal lobotomies, brainwashing, and/or electric shock treatment, well then, you're out of your mind.
Stay tuned and visit our blog for more Out of the Box fun!
