Story Of The Month
|

In May, Open Books premiered a brand-new writing workshop in which students were allowed to indulge their magical sides by telling their stories as real life fairy tales. Instead of houses, students live in castles. Girls can be princesses, boys can be princes, and everyone rides home on a white steed, er, hovercraft. Here's one of our favorites: The Best Day Ever By Dashia

Drum Roll... Announcing... THE OPEN BOOKS STORE LOCATION!

The time has come, the lease is signed, and we're PROUD AND THRILLED to announce that the Open Books store will open later this year at:
213 W. Institute Place Chicago, IL 60610
If you've visited us before, you know how much we love our River North space in the 100-year-old former home of the Schwinn bicycle factory. So, with your help and the knowledge that there's no place like home, we'll be opening our flagship used bookstore and literacy community center right here in the fall of 2009. As we begin construction, we'll post frequent updates and sneak peeks. In the meantime, find out more about our plans and how you can help, and make sure to join the store mailing list! We can't wait to share what we've been doing with all of you and to welcome you to our newly expanded home. |
How much good can you do for literacy in 24 hours? On July 25, Open Books will join bloggers worldwide for Blogathon 2009 and find out! We're looking for friends to blog with us during the 'thon and sponsors to help us reach our goal of $2,500. Join us for 24 hours of irreverently innovative shared stories of fun and frivolity and help make a difference for literacy in Chicago!
